Split ferrite cable core 6.5 mm ID 407 ohm 100 MHz snap-on case Laird Technologies 28A0593-0·
Split snap-on ferrite cable core for round cables and wire bundles, with 6.5 mm inside diameter and nominal 407 ohm impedance at 100 MHz. Used to reduce common-mode and differential-mode EMI on existing cable assemblies without disconnecting the cable.
What this product is for
This split ferrite cable core is used to suppress high-frequency electromagnetic interference on round cables and wiring harnesses. The snap-on housing lets installers add EMI suppression after assembly or during service work.
Use for
Use for telecom, control wiring, data equipment, industrial electronics, and other cable assemblies where unwanted noise needs to be reduced. It is commonly used on existing cables up to about 0.256 in (6.5 mm) outside diameter.
Avoid for
Avoid for cables larger than the core opening, or where a fixed one-piece ferrite is required before connector termination. Do not treat ferrite selection as a substitute for proper grounding, shielding, or cable routing.
Best for
Best for retrofit EMI control where the cable is already terminated and cannot be easily removed. Also useful when field troubleshooting shows high-frequency noise on signal or power leads.
Installed in
Installed around round cable or wire bundles in panels, equipment cabinets, communication racks, test setups, and electronic assemblies. The black snap-on case secures the ferrite around the cable.
Why this product exists
This part gives installers a practical way to add broadband EMI suppression without cutting or reterminating the cable. A typical trade-level approach is to place the ferrite near the noise source or equipment entry point; actual results depend on cable type, frequency, grounding, and installation conditions.
Compared with similar products
Compared with one-piece ferrite cores, this split-core style is easier to install on finished cable assemblies. Compared with larger snap-on cores, this model is sized for smaller round cables and provides nominal impedance of 407 ohm at 100 MHz, with reference values of 186 ohm at 25 MHz and 575 ohm at 300 MHz.
