      What this product is for

This Eaton CHF230 is a Type CH plug-in thermal magnetic circuit breaker for protecting 120/240V branch circuits in compatible Eaton Type CH loadcentres. It provides overload and short-circuit protection with common trip across both poles.

      Use for

Use for matched 2-pole 30A branch circuits in Eaton Type CH panels where a common-trip breaker is required. Typical applications include 240V equipment loads such as small air conditioning equipment, water heaters, or other equipment with nameplate and conductor sizing matched to a 30A breaker.

      Avoid for

Do not use in panels that are not listed for Eaton Type CH breakers. Do not use where GFCI, AFCI, or other specialty protection is required unless the circuit design specifically calls for that breaker type.

      Best for

Best for electricians and service contractors replacing or adding a standard 2-pole 30A breaker in an Eaton CH residential or light commercial loadcentre where trip indication is useful for troubleshooting.

      Installed in

Installed in Eaton Type CH loadcentres. The breaker is 3/4 in per pole format and requires two spaces, approximately 1.5 in (38 mm) total width.

      Why this product exists

This breaker provides standard branch-circuit protection in the CH platform while adding a visible trip flag to help distinguish a tripped breaker from one that is simply switched off.

      Compared with similar products

Compared with standard CH breakers, the CHF series adds trip flag indication. Compared with GFCI or AFCI breakers, this is a standard thermal magnetic breaker and is selected when only conventional overcurrent protection is required. Typical circuit guidance: 30A circuits are commonly paired with #10 AWG copper conductors, but actual conductor selection depends on insulation rating, termination temperature limits, equipment nameplate, and local electrical code.

Actual performance and application suitability depend on panel compatibility, conductor sizing, connected load, and local electrical code.
