      What this product is for

This plug-in circuit breaker is used to provide overload and short-circuit protection on 120/240V branch circuits in Eaton Type CH loadcentres. It is a 2-pole thermal-magnetic breaker with a visible trip flag for faster identification of a tripped circuit.

      Use for

Use for 120/240V branch circuits that require a 2-pole 40A breaker in a compatible Eaton CH panel. Common applications include fixed loads, small equipment circuits, and other panelboard branch circuits where the panel label calls for a Type CH breaker.

      Avoid for

Do not use this breaker in panels not listed for Eaton Type CH breakers. Do not use where GFCI, AFCI, or other special protection is required unless the circuit design specifically allows a standard thermal-magnetic breaker.

      Best for

Best for electricians replacing or adding a standard 2-pole 40A breaker in Eaton CH residential or light commercial distribution equipment where quick visual trip indication is useful for service calls and troubleshooting.

      Installed in

Installed in Eaton Type CH loadcentres and panelboards listed for CH series plug-in breakers. The breaker uses a 3/4 in per pole format, approximately 19 mm per pole.

      Why this product exists

The CHF240 provides standard branch circuit protection while adding Eaton's trip flag feature, which helps distinguish a tripped breaker from one that has simply been switched off. This can reduce troubleshooting time in occupied buildings.

      Compared with similar products

Compared with a standard CH breaker without trip flag indication, the CHF series adds a visible trip indicator. Compared with GFCI or AFCI breakers, this is a standard thermal-magnetic breaker intended for circuits that do not require those added protection functions. Typical circuit selection should always follow the equipment nameplate, conductor size, panel listing, and local electrical code.
