      What this product is for

This 4 in x 10 ft (3.0 m) DB2 Type II PVC electrical duct is used to protect underground power, street lighting, and communication conductors in direct burial or concrete encased raceway systems. The expansion end helps speed assembly on straight duct runs.

      Use for

Use for underground duct banks, site servicing, utility distribution, roadway lighting, and communication infrastructure where DB2 duct is specified. Suitable where CSA C22.2 No. 211.1 compliant underground PVC duct is required.

      Avoid for

Avoid using where exposed raceway, indoor surface conduit, or above-ground mechanical protection is required unless the installation method and code specifically allow it. This is underground duct, not general-purpose exposed PVC conduit.

      Best for

Best for contractors installing larger underground raceways that need a 4 in trade size with factory expansion end for faster joining and smoother cable pulling over longer runs.

      Installed in

Typically installed in commercial, industrial, utility, municipal, roadway, and communication projects across Canada. Common installations include direct burial trenches and concrete encased duct banks.

      Why this product exists

DB2 duct is made for underground cable protection where impact resistance, crush strength, and easier conductor pulling matter more than exposed-raceway appearance. The specialized PVC compound and bell or expansion end format are intended to simplify underground installation.

      Compared with similar products

Compared with lighter-duty underground raceway options, DB2 Type II duct is commonly selected when higher crush resistance and utility-style underground performance are needed. Compared with plain-end duct, the factory expansion end reduces coupling steps during installation. As a typical trade guideline, conduit fill should still be planned carefully for cable pulling and future capacity. Actual installation requirements depend on conductor type, bend count, pulling tension, and local electrical code.
